DAVID BELLAMY CONSERVATION AWARD’S FOR DUNWICH CLIFFS ESTATE
DCE has been part of the Professor David Bellamy conservation scheme since 2011 and is proud to say that since then we have received the Gold award for our conversation work every year; an important and prestigious conservation accolade!

The gold is the highest award given in the scheme run by the BH&HPA (The British Holiday and Home Parks Association – of which we are long standing members).  Well we thought it was the highest award!  For the conservation work done in 2014 DCE was also awarded a Special Distinction award for the creation of new habitat for snakes and insects.  We have added 2 adder piles and 5 beetle pits to the park as well as planting an orchard and planting over 800 new trees and hedge plants.

Granted only to parks which have demonstrated a sound commitment to the natural world, the David Bellamy Conservation Awards are described by Professor Bellamy as the 'Green Olympics' and go only to parks which help protect and enhance the natural environment.

In the past few years, our initiatives have included the planting of trees and hedges and encouraging natural areas which all create a haven for wildlife. Our continued use of solar power, the addition of the recycling bins, the new owl boxes and our ongoing work to preserve the unique atmosphere of peace and tranquillity of our park have added to help us win this award. As no doubt most of you are aware we have a lot of wildlife including deer, foxes, adders, slow-worms and the occasional nightingale to name but a few, happily roaming the park (most of which seem to eat almost everything we plant!)

A big thank you to Vince and Dean for all their hard work to help us achieve these awards and a bigger thank you to all of you who have helped by planting around your caravans, getting rid of unnecessary fences and by helping us to keep Dunwich Cliffs Estate as natural and environmentally friendly as possible.

As Professor Bellamy commented: "Parks like this are creating wildlife wonderlands, and it's time they were given well-deserved recognition for their environmental commitment".

However, we will not be allowed to rest on our laurels, as gold medal winners the park will now be inspected every year! So please keep up the great work and continue to enjoy the wonderful and natural haven which is Dunwich Cliffs Estate.
